38th Annual NCPSMA Eastern Convention/Workshop Sheraton Atlantic Beach Hotel, Atlantic Beach, NC September 22-25, 2010
Regular Member Information NCPSMA will hold their 38th Annual Eastern Convention/Workshop September 22-25 at the Sheraton Atlantic Beach Oceanfront Hotel in Atlantic Beach, N.C. There will be 25 workshops offered this year including workshops for continuing education credits. There will be renewal credit hours classes for Wastewater (6), HVAC Plumbing (6) and Electrical (8). There are classes offered this year for the maintenance office personnel. Many scheduled workshops should prove to be of interest to all maintenance personnel as well as public school administrators. Widely known professionals with years of experience will conduct workshops and programs. Please see the tentative agenda. Registration will begin on Wednesday, September 22, at 8 a.m. Please note that on that day, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., only those with prepaid membership and prepaid registration will be permitted to register. The NCPSMA Planning Committee worked hard to provide workshops that will offer special programs of interest. Please note the Reservations below concerning reservations for the Sheraton. Also available on this website are the Guidelines for the Superintendent, Maintenance Director and Maintenance Employee of The Year nominations. If you have a deserving fellow employee, director or superintendent, please take time to nominate them. It will take some time but the procedure is not complicated. To see your nominee win a top award is well worth the effort. When completing the registration form, please print neatly as the information for nametags and certificates will be taken from this form. LEA's who send in registration for several employees at once need not fill out individual forms. They may send in a sheet listing the names of attendees. Please include LEA address, phone number and contact person. The deadline for preregistration is August 15, 2010. Registrations not received before that date will be subject to late fee registration and will not be included in the $50 pre-registration drawing to be held at the banquet. Please encourage your LEA to send in the registrations early. Hopefully this will be one of the best NCPSMA Convention/Workshop ever. We trust you are making plans to attend. Room Reservations Do not forget to make your won reservations for the Eastern Convention/Workshop by July 31, 2010. Our contract with the Sheraton Atlantic Beach Hotel indicates a later cutoff date, but registration history indicates that most reservations are made by this date and waiting to register at a later date could have a negative result. Hotel Accommodations There will be ocean view single/double rooms available at $97. Oceanfront single/double at $129. Oceanfront Suite single/double $169. Ocean view rooms will go quickly to the early callers. Unless you wish to pay more, make your reservations early. Rates are subject to state and local taxes. Rates are based on single or double occupancy; there will be an additional charge of $15 per person sharing the room (limit 4). Children under 18 stay free with parents. There will be an additional $15 charge for king beds. All reservations for this event should be received by the resort by August 23, 2010. Reservations received after this date will be provided on a space available basis and the group rate is not guaranteed. Please note check-in time is 4 pm. The hotel does not ensure guests that rooms will be available before that time. Check-out time is 11 am. The hotel requests that attendees of groups check out prior to the final session on departure day. Luggage storage is available at the bell stand. The cancellation policy regarding individual reservations requires a 72-hour cancellation notice to avoid a cancellation penalty. Failure to give proper notification will result in the first night room rate being charged to the guest. Reservations may be confirmed by calling 1.800.624.8875 or by fax at 252.240.1452. To receive the special group rates for this event you must indentify that you are an attendee of NCPSMA. All reservations must be guaranteed for late arrival by credit card, personal check or cashier check made payable to the Sheraton Atlantic Beach Hotel.
