The Maintenance Beacon is the monthly online publication of the North Carolina Public School Maintenance Association.  It is available to members of the association who are affiliated with the public school systems of North Carolina.  Included in our email list are school superintendents, maintenance administrators, maintenance technicians, maintenance clerical staff and others involved in public school operations as well as vendors of school maintenance supplies and services.

Advertising in The Maintenance Beacon is the ideal medium for establishing and maintaining contact with those important customers in the North Carolina School Systems.

The Maintenance Beacon carries stories related to the affairs of the association and its membership, including personnel profiles, recognition of members who achieve special honors, human interest items and technical information provided by those with expertise on a wide range of subject matter.  A calendar of events as well as an advertiser index appears in each issue.

​Advertising vendors will do well to note there is a section available devoted to new products and are encouraged to send stories containing photos and brief descriptions of new item and services.  There are no charges for this service, however all stories will be used at the Editor’s discretion and are subject to editing. 

ADVERTISING RATES

  • The advertising rate is $110.00 per column inch per ad size for 12 monthly issues. 
  • The minimum ad size is a 1 x 2 or a 2 x 1 at an annual cost of $250.00.
  • We do not accept advertising for less than 12 months.
  • Advertisements should be in the form of camera ready art, or computer generated files, suitable for reproduction.
  • Photographs are generally printed using 133-line screens.
  • Should there be type changes to the ad, we will attempt to match type as close as possible for which there will be a charge.
  • For an exact match it will be necessary for the advertiser to provide complete new artwork at the expense of the advertiser.
  • Artwork can be prepared through an advertising agency or in-house art departments.

MECHANICAL CONSIDERATIONS

Advertisements are sold in full column inch units.  Vertical measurements are computed in linear inches.  Horizontal measurements should be computed as follows:
  • 1 Column = 1 13/16 inches (11 picas)
  • 2 Columns = 3 7/8 inches (23p3 picas)
  • 3 Columns = 5 7/8 inches (35p3 picas)
  • 4 Columns = 7 15/16 inches (48p4 picas)
  • 5 Columns = 10 inches (60 picas)

PAYMENT INFORMATION

Full payment must accompany all advertising orders.  Deadline for new advertising or changes is the first day of the month prior to the month of publication.  Once an account has been established, advertisers will be notified of expiration date of contract.

The prices listed below are for 12 issues.
  • The first number will be horizontal and the second will be vertical.
  • Width Actual Sizes (horizontal) must be in these sizes – 2 inches, 4 inches, 6 inches, 8 inches, 10 inches
  • Vertical (deep) Sizes must be in these sizes - 1-inch increments to as much as 15 inches
  • A full-page ad would 10 inches (5 columns – horizontal) and 15 inches deep (vertical) for $8,250
